Bristol Oyster Co. is a lockdown success story
Rich Summers’ family has been in the oyster business for generations and he is now using that long-held expertise to bring fresh shellfish directly from his family’s oyster farm in Norfolk and delivering it to doorsteps in Bristol.
After finding himself out of a job in lockdown, Rich founded The Bristol Oyster Co, with a vision to make high-quality oysters accessible for everybody.
“My family has been in the oyster business for generations, since my great-grandfather started before the First World War”, Rich said.

“I’ve been lucky enough to have been spoilt with the freshest, most incredible seafood since I was a kid, and I’m so happy now to have the chance to share it with customers in my home city of Bristol.”

The family oyster farm is currently run by Rich’s uncle, Cyril, and his son and Rich’s cousin, Ben. They are the sole supplier of all of the oysters and mussels delivered by The Bristol Oyster Co.
They check every oyster by hand to ensure it meets their high standards.
As well as offering home deliveries every Friday, The Bristol Oyster Co. has also runs pop-up events at the Milk Thistle, and is now also selling a Christmas oyster hamper.
