Bristol pub named second best in UK

The Pony & Trap in Chew Magna has been named as the UK’s second best gastropub in the prestigious Top 50 Gastropubs Awards 2018.

“Today has been a good day!” tweeted the Michelin-starred country pub.

Brother and sister duo Josh and Holly Eggleton took over the 200-year-old Pony & Trap in 2006, and have held a Michelin star since 2011.

The pair were pipped to the top spot by The Sportsman near Whitstable in Kent, with the list voted for by gastropub operators, food writers, chefs, pub guide editors, industry chiefs and food operators.

The news comes just over one month since Casamia was named the second best restaurant in the UK in the Harden’s Best UK Restaurants 2018 list.
