Bristol restaurants lend their support to Ukraine with raffle
Bristol’s food and drink community is rolling their sleeves in a bid help those fleeing war in Ukraine.
A fundraiser has been organised by the city’s food and hospitality industry as a way to lend support to the war-torn country in Eastern Europe.
Bristol Cooks for Ukraine has been arranged by The Ethicurean but brings together a raft of restaurants from Berthas Pizza and Bianchis Group to Papadeli and Snobby’s – all donating prizes for a huge raffle.
is needed now More than ever
Prizes include a meal for two at The Ethicurean Restaurant, a two course lunch for two at BOX-E, dinner for two at Casamia and a £50 voucher for Cargo Cantina.
As well as raising awareness of the rapidly unfolding humanitarian crisis in Ukraine since Russia’s invasion, all money donated through the purchase of raffle tickets will go to help those fleeing war.
Each ticket costs £20 and winners will be announced on Friday, March 25.
Cook for Ukraine is an industry initiative started by London chefs Alissa Timonivska and Olia Hercules. The Ukrainian and Russian friends joined forces to raise funds to support the humanitarian effort and encourage people to celebrate Ukrainian and eastern European culture by cooking traditional meals.
Their #CookForUkraine JustGiving page has raised upwards of £250,000, a figure that continues to rise.
It comes as Bristol continues to show solidarity with Ukrainians, from vigils and protests to delivering goods to the Poland-Ukraine border and a procession of ferries moving through the harbour – all to display support for those embroiled in the conflict.
