Bristol’s smallest cafe opens in a garage
Bristol’s smallest cafe, 3ft 6, is so named because that’s the length from the front of the counter to the back wall.
There may be coffee being served out of several converted horseboxes across the city but this cafe is definitely the smallest within permanent premises.
Like so many projects, 3ft 6 was formulated during lockdown by artist and designer Rob Savage.
is needed now More than ever
Sav, as he is known, lives next door and opened his new cafe within his garage-cum-workshop for the first time on Saturday.
For now, it is only open on weekends from 10am to 3pm but depending on demand, Sav is hoping to extend these hours.
Located on Lancaster Street in Redfield, 3ft 6 can be glimpsed from nearby Netham Park, with its bright colours (Barbados Skies by Dulux if you’re asking) helping to draw in punters on its first day.

Coffee here is roasted by Blind Owl on the nearby Feeder Road, with dairy-free milk from another St Philip’s business, Tiger & Float.
On Saturday, cakes and sweet treats on the counter included a carrot cake, brownies and flapjacks.
Most of the garage is still Sav’s workshop, with this space at the front of it able to be moved away so Sav can still get on with his day job during the week.
Look out for 3ft 6 painted in its vibrant shade of Barbados Skies, acting as a beacon towards Bristol’s smallest cafe.
