Bristol’s most beautiful new bakery opens for business

By Martin Booth  Thursday Jul 2, 2020

One look at the cakes on the counter at Ahh Toots should tempt you through its new front door at the foot of Christmas Steps.

This historic building used to be one of the UK’s oldest fish and chip shops and now it is without doubt Bristol’s most beautiful bakery.

On the counter on a recent Thursday morning were a croissant cake, lemon and pistachio cake and banana salted caramel cake.

There were also friands, salted caramel brownies and rocky roads made by the bakers in the second home of the St Nick’s Market favourites.

It’s takeaway only for now but there is a tantalising glimpse of the seating area, where the Ahh Toots team will hopefully soon be serving their cakes as well as coffees, lunches, afternoon tea and the occasional fish supper with a twist.
