Burger restaurant rolls back the years as it reopens as street food stall

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Jul 14, 2020

The beginnings of Chomp were as a street food stall within a converted Citroen van, first at Temple Meads and then at Cathedral Walk in the Harbourside.

After pop-ups at 40 Alfred Place in Kingsdown, Chomp opened their first bricks and mortar restaurant on St Nicholas Street.

That restaurant is currently closed, but Chomp has now returned to its street food beginnings.

Now in a sleek black converted caravan, Chomp can be found from Friday to Sunday outside Bristol Distilling Co. in the Malago Vale Trading Estate off St John’s Lane in Bedminster.

Enjoy bacon rolls and coffee from 8am on Fridays and hamburgers from midday on all three days.

Burgers include the cheeseburger (£7.75), bacon cheeseburger (£8.75) and vegan burger (£7.50) which is made with a spiced bean patty.

Currently table service and card-only, the burgers can now be accompanied by Bristol Distilling Co’s own draft gin and tonic (£4.50), which you can also take away in a jerry can.

There is also a choice of cocktails and beer including Wiper & True’s own Chomp house brew.
