Cafe, deli and wine bar coming soon
“Somewhere between Burra and Bar44” is where Edward Starling envisions his first hospitality venture to sit in the Bristol food and drink scene. He meant in terms of food, but the central spot on Queen’s road means the same can be said of the location.
Starlings is being assembled at a rapid pace in what was once 99 Queens, which was well known for its breakfasts. It will retain the cafe elements but will also open as a wine bar with charcuterie boards and small plates in the evenings. Alongside the brunch to eat in, customers will be able to take goods away from the deli including oils, wines, crisps and olives.

The deli shelves are stocked ahead of Starlings’ opening.
Edward is a relative newcomer to Bristol having moved here in 2019, but has already gained experience working front of house at Little Shop and Pantry and running a pop-up at Penfold’s kitchen. Prior to this Edward, who is the chef as well as the owner at Starlings, ran pop up restaurants in Exeter.
is needed now More than ever

Edward Starling is the owner and chef.
The menu will place an emphasis on locally sourced produce. Brunch dishes include truffled eggs, avocado and feta on toast and nordic sourdough.
Edward said “I’ve always loved Clifton and envisaged opening a business here. I love the BS8 community, so this is the perfect spot.
“The plan is to open during the day time initially and start opening for evenings a few weeks in.”
Further down the line, Edward would like to host boozy brunches, art exhibitions and local pop-up kitchens.
Starlings will be open for cakes and coffee from Friday 29 July over the weekend and will start serving brunch from Tuesday 2 August.
