Caribbean takeaway opening first restaurant

By Martin Booth  Wednesday May 11, 2022

A restaurant that describes itself as “the best Caribbean takeaway in the area” is moving to a new Bristol neighbourhood.

Negril Island currently operates from premises on Church Road in Redfield, with signature dishes including curry goat, brown stew chicken, oxtail and dumplings, and sweet dumplings.

The takeaway is now hoping to open a new site, moving from opposite St George Park to St George’s Road around the back of City Hall.

Restaurants and cafes here in recent years have been Chill Out, Siam Angel and most recently Steak Me Out.

The building on the corner of St George’s Road and Brandon Steep is called Lime Kiln Cottage and dates back to 1775.

It is located next to the Lime Kiln pub, which was previously known as the Horse & Groom.
