Cocktail bar could open in former nightclub

By Martin Booth  Friday Nov 5, 2021

A new cocktail bar could be opening in the Old City on the site of a famous former nightclub.

Adventure Bar is part of a group of bars across London including sites in Covent Garden, Leicester Square and Shoreditch, as well as one venue in Birmingham, Luna Springs.

One of their venues, Blame Gloria in Clapham, is described as “a rabbit warren of wonder, a labyrinth of delight, this subterranean cocktail den thrills with its architectural delights, food and drinks from above and service that will make you smile”.

Bristol’s first Adventure Bar looks likely to open in the former Timbuk2 on Small Street, which was once home to a 24-hour cafe before it closed in 2016.

The owners of the bar, +Venture Battersea Ltd, have applied for permission to host live music and film screenings as part of their premises licence.

The 300-capacity venue Timbuk2 was described by former Bristol24/7 Clubs Editor Georgia Marsh as “the kind of grimy sweatbox synonymous with Bristol nightlife”.
