Could this walkway soon become Bristol’s new food & drink hub?

By Martin Booth  Monday Apr 8, 2019

A new walkway at Finzels Reach is quiet for now, but could soon be a bustling new area lined with restaurants, shops, cafes and more.

Building work on the development has seen the previous pedestrian and cycle route from Castle Bridge towards Victoria Street redirected.

The new route shows a tantalising glimpse of the possibilities to come in the future.

Gavin Bridge of Finzels Reach developers Cubex confirmed that the ground floor of the walkway will all be leisure uses.

“I’d love a bakery if I can find one,” Bridge tweeted, also confirming that leases will be affordable.

He added: “Quality of offer more important than the rent that can be paid. We don’t want a vanilla lineup but rather curate a row of complimentary businesses.”

Following the recent arrival of Spicer & Cole, Bristol24/7 understands that another new business is due to be revealed soon.

Meanwhile, one business already with the keys to their new premises hosted a special event at the weekend for some of their investors who helped them successfully crowdfund more than one million pounds.

Left Handed Giant will be opening a new brewery and brewpub, and poured beer on the site for the first time on Saturday.
