Crowdfunder set up to save south Bristol cafe
Less than 24 since a crowdfunder was launched, more than 100 people have already donated to support a popular south Bristol cafe whose future now looks less bleak.
Hennesseys is one of the longest surviving businesses on North Street, with owner Mike regularly donating the day’s leftover food to charities.
Joey Withers, who started the crowdfunder, wrote that Hennesseys “is a core part of the BS3 community”.
is needed now More than ever
“It’s a friendly haven for the diverse residents in Southville and Bedminster, from pensioners to the school children who visit each day to buy a hot chocolate and raid the tin of sweets he keeps for them behind the counter.”
But according to the crowdfunder, “even with the unfulfilled promises of government financial assistance, Mike will be forced to permanently close his doors at the end of October”.
The fundraiser hopes to to assist Mike with running costs, allowing Hennesseys to remain open for the next six months, “which will buy some time for both Mike and the local community”.
