Dynasty to close after nearly 20 years
Much-loved Chinese restaurant Dynasty is to close after almost two decades in business, with the building being sold to developers.
The Hong Kong-based Ho family will close the doors of Dynasty in St Thomas Street in Redcliffe later this month after serving customers for 18 years.
The announcement of its closure continues a worrying recent trend in Bristol, which in the last few weeks has seen Sticks & Broth on Baldwin Street close, Maitreya Social on St Mark’s Road in Easton announcing it will be sold in September and Roll for the Soul due to shut by the end of the year.
is needed now More than ever
It might not be the end for Dynasty, however, with the family not ruling out its return within the new Redcliff Quarter when restaurant units open there in 2019.
Co-owner Calvin Chong said: “We are all very sad to go, and even more sad to say goodbye to our loyal customers, suppliers, and friends, some of whom have grown with us since day one.
“We have been through a tremendous journey, and do not have anything but deep gratitude to the local community for standing beside us all this time.
“Although we will be closing our doors on September 24, we are negotiating for new premises, and hope to be able to serve our diners again in the near future.
“This is an incredibly sad time for the Ho family, who have so many happy memories of Dynasty in St Thomas Street. But hopefully the end of one era will turn out to be the beginning of a brand new one.”
