Everyone is invited to pub landlady’s last day after 30 years
After 30 years, a pub landlady is pulling her last pint on Tuesday evening before retiring.
And everyone is invited to mark the occasion at the Beaufort in Montpelier, with farewell drinks taking place from 6pm.
Constance Higgins, better known as Patsy, took over the York Road local on August 4 1993 alongside her husband Delroy, known as Garth, who sadly died in 2007, with Patsy running the pub single-handedly ever since.
is needed now More than ever
In a laminated sign pinned to the front door of the pub, Patsy wrote that it is”the end of an era”.
She said: “Thank you to all my local and less local customers who have supported this establishment.
“Delroy Higgins ( Garth to most of us) and myself Patsy took over the Beaufort on 4 August 1993. Since Garth died 16 years ago I have managed the pub on my own.
“It’s a sad time for me but after 40 years I know it’s the right time to retire. I have met so many people and have numerous, wonderful memories of you all.
“I’ve also really appreciated those visitors who left Bristol many years ago and still pop in!
“Thank you again to all of you who have been loyal and friendly customers. You are all most welcome to join me for a farewell drink on Tuesday 8 Augus 2023 6pm onwards!”
