Bristol speciality coffee roaster named best in UK

By Mia Vines Booth  Tuesday May 10, 2022

It can often feel like there are endless coffee shops and roasters in Bristol alone. So it’s no surprise that this year’s judges at the 2022 UK Coffee Awards had their most difficult task to date.

After much deliberation, Bristol’s very own Extract Coffee Roasters was voted the ‘Best All-Round Specialty Coffee Roaster’ in the UK.

Extract Coffee Roasters is much loved by the coffee aficionados of Bristol, with Boston Tea Party, Bakers & Co, Hart’s Bakery and other well-known Bristol cafes serving and stocking the speciality coffee.

Based in St Werburgh’s, the company was established in 2007 and prides itself on making coffee “better”. This includes ethically sourcing, through long-term, sustainable relationships with coffee growers and ensuring sustainable measures are also taken place in the UK by recycling and restoring.

The company says they follow this through all the way to the cup of coffee on your table, ensuring the coffee is roasted to perfection and training baristas to make the perfect cup.

This is the first year of the UK Coffee Awards, which were announced at the London Coffee Festival.

Extract managing director, Duncan Kendall, said they were “thrilled” to be given the award, and acknowledged the competition in the coffee industry, “being up against some great brands and in our 15th anniversary year”.

He described it as an “incredible achievement that recognised the dedication, the expertise and the passion that each and every member of the Extract Coffee Roasters team displays every single day”.

Kendall also thanked their customers and community partners for being part of the “epic journey”, saying “the best is yet to come”.
