Former pop-up Indian restaurant starts food delivery via taxis

By Martin Booth  Thursday May 7, 2020

Starting as a street food stall and later focusing on private events and weddings, Coconut Chilli also became a pop-up restaurant on Whiteladies Road last year.

A delivery menu from their ‘ghost kitchen’ in Clifton now features Indian snacks and curry bowls.

A ghost kitchen is one that contains the equipment and facilities needed for the preparation of restaurant-quality meals but has no dining area.

Coconut Chilli’s food, cooked by founder Navina Bartlett, is able to be delivered across Bristol via V Cars taxis.

Food includes samosas (£4.20), Delhi butter chicken (£10.75), spicy lamb meatballs (£11.50) and mini poppadoms.

Navina said: “Even before lockdown, everyone in our industry knew the 2020 events season was finished.

“With no event opportunities on the horizon, we paired back our menu offering, waited until we knew we could sustain operations and secure ingredients from our fantastic suppliers.”

Coconut Chilli’s ‘delivery days’ menu is available for delivery or free collection from 5pm until 9.30pm, Thursday to Sunday only. To order, visit www.coconutchilli.com/menu.
