Four Bristol restaurants named among UK’s top-100

By Martin Booth  Monday Jun 11, 2018

A Thai restaurant in Soho has been named the UK’s best restaurant in the 2018 National Restaurant Awards, with Bristol well represented.

Kiln took top honours in the awards held on Monday evening, with second place going to Sabor and third to A Wong, also both in London.

The awards are voted for by chefs, restaurateurs and food writers.

Top of the Bristol tree was Casamia at number 27 – worthy of celebration but nevertheless a hefty fall from last year’s sixth place – with sister restaurant and fellow holder of a Michelin star Paco Tapas at 75th in the list.

Wapping Wharf  restaurant Root (pictured top) was named the UK’s 57th best restaurant in the awards, a stunning achievement for a business that is still less than a year old.

And completing the Bristol contingent in the prestigious awards is Wilsons on Chandos Road in Redland at 63, which according to Jay Rayner in the Observer last year “shows the joy of keeping things simple”.
