Free giveaway from Oowee three years after ‘burger apocalypse’
Three years after police were called to their last free burger giveaway, Oowee are doing it again.
But this time they are promising the event will be conducted “in a much more safe and organised fashion”, with 100 free burgers dished out at Oowee Vegan on Baldwin Street as well as Oowee’s restaurants in London and Brighton.
The new giveaway sees Oowee partner up with the manufacturer of a plant-based beef to promote a new burger.
is needed now More than ever
The Flamin’ Hot Smash consists of a double Beyond Meat ‘smashpatty’, two slices of American cheese, ‘buttermilk’ fried jalapeños and hot mayo.
Oowee’s aim “is to show meat eaters that eating a plant based burger can be just as exciting and delicious as the traditional animal meat burger, with the hope that they consider a plant based option more regularly”.

Oowee co-founder Charlie Watson said: “Veganuary is the time of year when many non-vegans decide to give the diet a go for the month, so we’ve really focused on creating a product that they will enjoy just as much, if not more than the very best animal meat alternatives.
“We achieve this by obsessing over every element of the burger, from the daily baked milk rolls made by our in-house baker, to the hand made, unique sauces that our chefs create, and then we work with the industry leaders where exceptional products exist, such as Beyond Meat, which put together, create something special. It’s all in the detail.”
“We wanted to have some fun and know that our community loves a burger giveaway so we decided to give 100 of the new Flamin’ Hot Smash burgers away at each of our sites across the country…
“We’re really proud of this one, and can’t wait to see the reaction of meat eaters when they try the burger, as people are always so surprised at how realistic it tastes. It’s great to see people so excited about this innovative product.”
Customers will be able to claim a free Flamin’ Hot Smash burger by visiting Oowee Vegan on Baldwin Street on Friday at 1pm, where 100 burgers will be given out on a first come first served basis.
