Friska to open on Park Street
Friska bosses have acted fast since the news that Rise on the Clifton Triangle – which contains their cafe on the ground floor – is relocating at the end of the summer.
They like this corner of Bristol so much that they are opening a new Friska at the top of Park Street in the former Blackwell bookshop.
Friska was founded on Victoria Street in 2009 and now has four cafes in Bristol and one in Birmingham, as well as smaller concessions in three Bristol venues and Luton Airport
The news of the Park Street opening comes as Friska has received £3m of investment from private equity fund manager YFM Equity Partners to support the roll out of the business into new cities across the UK, with the aim of doubling store numbers over the next three years.

As part of the deal, Steve Hill, former CEO of Wagamama and current non-executive chairman of Pho, will join Friska as non-executive chairman.
Friska co-founder Griff Holland said: “Over the past seven years, we have been honing our menu, the way our stores look and feel, our brand and of course our operating systems.
“We feel confident that now is the right time to bring our feel good food (and coffee) to cities around the UK and working with YFM and Steve will allow us to do this faster and better, just like our food.”
Meanwhile, The Alchemist Bar & Restaurant have applied for a premises license to move into Rise and Friska’s current premises at 70 Queen’s Road.
Founded in Manchester, there are currently ten Alchemist restaurants in the UK, claiming to be “masters in the dark arts of molecular mixology and demons in the kitchen”.
