How To Be A Chef to return in 2021
The How To Be A Chef course, run by the Square Food Foundation in partnership with Bristol24/7, supports young people to gain experience in the food and drink industry and supports them into future employment.
After a pause during the coronavirus pandemic, the 12-week course will begin again in the new year.
Previous young people who have been part of How To Be A Chef have gone on to work in professional kitchens.

“I would 100 per cent recommend the course,” said Diccon, one of the young people on the last How To Be A Chef cohort.
“I’ve already told a few friends about it and will continue to spread the word about it because it has been so helpful and fun for myself. The placements and trips are so informative and interesting. The connections you make and people you meet can never be lost.
“I had high hopes for the course, yet it still managed to exceed expectations.”

The training programme that runs from 10am to 4pm, every Wednesday and Thursday for three months.
Trainees will learn the basics of cooking as well as some advanced techniques and recipes.
There will also be a range of workshops led by experts in food-related issues, cookery demonstrations and guest chefs.
Young people will also receive BTEC Level 2 qualification and a Level 2 Food & Hygiene certificate upon course competition.
This course is for young people aged 16-25 who are not working or in full-time education or training.
