The first episode of a new Channel 4 series about a Bristol restaurant staffed entirely living with dementia is coming to Channel 4.
The first episode of The Restaurant That Makes Mistakes, filmed towards the end of 2018 at The Kitchen on Silver Street, begins at 9pm on Wednesday, June 12.
“In a daring five-week experiment, 14 volunteers all living with some form of dementia are about to make all of us think again.”
is needed now More than ever
Over four hour-long episodes, viewers will follow the journey of the contributors in what is described as a “sometimes poignant, sometimes funny but overall a feel good and surprising series” as they are put to work in the restaurant.
The volunteers include 23-year-old Jordan, who has tested positive for Pick’s Disease and expects to die young; Avril, a former gynaecologist and obstetrician who can no longer remember how old she is; and Jacqui, a legal representative who had to give up work when dementia damaged her memory and stole her eyesight.
Under the guidance of Josh Eggleton, of the Michelin-starred Pony & Trap in Chew Magna, the team set to work in the high-pressure environment of a restaurant, aiming to open the eyes of policy makers and employers on a quest to destigmatise dementia.
