Indian restaurant in St Werburgh’s named best restaurant in Bristol
Harris Massey was smiling from ear to ear on Tuesday. He had only returned to Bristol at 3am that morning after attending the British Restaurant Awards where he picked up the award for Bristol’s best restaurant.
Harris opened Namak on Mina Road seven months ago and is full of lavish praise for the local community.
“I just want to give the St Werburgh’s community some special thanks,” Harris told Bristol24/7. “They have been with me since the first day we opened, have been strongly behind me all the time, are here all the time and appreciate me.

“That gives me the strength to do better and better each and every day.”
There is an open kitchen in Namak – previously the site of The Cauldron – which Harris says gives him the confidence in his cooking and his customers the ability to see the dishes all being freshly prepared.

The best Bristol restaurant award is already on display in Namak
Namak was up against stiff opposition in the best in Bristol category at the awards ceremony, with restaurants including Adelina Yard, The Ethicurean, Root and Wilsons all also nominated.
“It’s incredible, an honour, a privilege,” said Harris, who lives in Hartcliffe.
“But to be honest, I just want to cook well for my guests. I just want to see them happy.”
