Inside Bristol’s latest cocktail bar where your first drink is free

By Rachel Sutherland  Wednesday Oct 5, 2022

Have you spotted a green and pink hue coming from the middle of Baldwin Street?

That’ll be from the bright lights inside of the newly opened cocktail bar, Tonight Josephine, which opened its doors at the weekend.

Glimmering walls and a giant neon sign which transitions from a ‘fingers crossed’ sign to a ‘peace’ sign, leads you down a set of stairs and into its colourfully lit basement bar.

With lots of booths to choose from, a range of cocktails behind the bar and plentiful space to have a boogie, the venue is a recipe for a good time.

The choice of cocktails on the menu isn’t just limited to what you see, if you fancy something that’s not there, staff encourage you to ask for your favourite cocktail combinations.

The bar chain, named after Joséphine Bonaparte, Empress of the French and the first wife of Emperor Napoleon I, has already taken the capital by storm with a number of venues dotted around London.

Tonight Josephine is also part of the bar scene in Cardiff, Birmingham, Liverpool and now Bristol.

Once you’ve signed up to its mailing list, first-timers in Bristol are being welcomed with a free cocktail.
