Lunchbox campaign launched in bid to tackle plastic pollution
A popular Bristol food and drink app is on a plastic-free mission with the launch of a new lunchbox scheme.
The BYO Lunchbox campaign encourages Wriggle customers to bring along their own containers to restaurants and cafes in order to cut down on single-use takeaway packaging.
Dozens of businesses across the city are taking part in the initiative, which has also got the support of Bristol West MP Thangam Debbonaire who recently lived without plastic for a month.
is needed now More than ever
“Bristol is rightly famous as an environmentally progressive place,” Debbonaire said. “I hope the BYO Lunchbox campaign will help the city lead the way in urgently cutting plastic waste.”
Wriggle founder Rob Hall said that it is “the responsibility of each and every one of us to lessen the damaging effects our daily habits are having on the environment”.
He added: “The BYO Lunchbox campaign is just one of the ways you can start making a difference.
“We’re delighted with the response we’ve had from local businesses and the public, and we’d love to push the project to as many UK cities as we can.”
