Make a beeline for St Nick’s
BS1 Honey has become the first product to be exclusively sold in Bristol Pounds.
The honey – made in three hives on the roof of St Nick’s Market – was launched on Friday at Source and will be on sale at Friday’s night market celebrating the third birthday of Bristol’s local currency.
is needed now More than ever
“Bristol’s streets really are paved with gold,” says Quentin Alsop of Bristol Urban Bee, a physio at Southmead Hospital when not being a beekeeper, explaining that tens of thousands of bees literally make a beeline for the lime trees in Castle Park.
This gives BS1 Honey a distinctly lime flavour as well as a surprising hint of mint.
A stone’s throw from the hives is the Centrespace studio of artist Joe Berger, who has designed the label on the jar, which is on sale at Source at £6.95 for 340g of the amber nectar.
