Milk Thistle team moving to Corn Street?

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Oct 1, 2014

The basement of a Wetherspoon’s pub is not normally much cause for excitement, but the basement underneath the Commercial Rooms on Corn Street is more historic than most. Hidden below the club built in 1810 and where the design of the Clifton Suspension Bridge was finalised, what was originally the Ocean Safe Deposit bank vault was most recently a restaurant.

43 Corn Street was not just any old restaurant either, but Markwick’s, once upon a time the finest restaurant in Bristol. Stephen and Judy Markwick only last month hung up their aprons for the last time at Culinaria.

A notice currently on the door informs that the space might soon become The Old City Steak House & Grill, with the license application from the team behind The Milk Thistle. Exciting times indeed.
