More than a thousand people queue for free cheesecake sandwich
More than a thousand people queued to get their hands on a frozen cheesecake sandwich on Wednesday afternoon, some for over an hour.
A queue had already formed at 11am in the morning, and by 12pm, stretched from Sandwich Sandwich on Baldwin Street, all the way down Welsh Back and to the Hole in the Wall pub near Queen Square.
The renowned sandwich shop had announced a day earlier on social media that it would be giving away a thousand frozen cheesecake brownie, Oreo and Biscoff sandwiches to celebrate their loyal customers.

The shop teamed up with Liverpool-based desert company Get Baked, to produce the cheesecake sandwiches.

The first people in the queue told Bristol24/7 they had arrived at 10:30, almost two hours before the event was scheduled to start.
Social media manager, Josh Kliener, whose father founded Sandwich Sandwich 12 years ago, said the event was a way of “giving back” to the people of Bristol, who had supported the business since its early beginnings.
“The turnout is insane, we wanted to thank our customers for all of their support and their way of thanking us back is by turning up in their thousands.
“My dad started Sandwich Sandwich 12 years ago and we never thought it would get to this, it’s amazing how big we’ve become.”

Although the amount of people that showed up was much more than they had expected, there were plenty of sandwiches to go around.
“It’s always a worry that we’ve not got enough, or we’ve made too much, so it’s a relief that we’ve managed to get everyone what they’ve come for” Josh told Bristol24/7.
