New 9th floor restaurant with stunning views
A new restaurant with panoramic views of Bristol has opened – on the 9th floor of the BRI.
The DeliMarché, with seating for 80 people, looks over the centre and across to the very fringes of the city.
The bright and modern cafe serves sandwiches and baguettes, hot meals, pastries and cakes.
is needed now More than ever
Operated by Medirest, it is the second cafe being run out of the hospital following Costa, which controversially opened in a prominent position on the newly-refurbished ground floor foyer.
The building’s facade is set to undergo a major face-lift as part of a £92 million redevelopment of the hospital.
Cutting the ribbon at the grand opening on Monday, Robert Woolley, chief executive of University Hospitals Bristol, said he was delighted to be finally carrying out a long-held ambition for the hospital.
“This location, these windows, that view, is simply stunning,” he said.
“I have been in the trust for 13 years and it always surprised me that the hospital doesn’t have somewhere that was light, airy and bright for staff and patients to go.”
The new restaurant, which was put out to competitive tender, will also provide a revenue boost to the hospital.
Income generated from the lease of the space is being reinvested back into medical care, Mr Woolley said.
