New bakery opens in Knowle West

By Charlie Watts  Thursday Jul 8, 2021

A new bakery has opened in Knowle West.

Yummy Yummy Bakery is run by Paul Canela and his wife Lavinia Serban, who live in north Bristol.

The husband and wife, originally from Romania, chose to open a bakery in Knowle West because there is not one in the area.

“We are very excited about seeing how it goes. It’s a new business in a new area,” said Paul, who also runs a body shop in Kingswood.

“People are nice and have been asking when we are opening.’’

‘We are good, kind people and we want to do our business properly.’’

The bakery is part of Jarman’s shops on Leinster Avenue, and it took Paul and Lavinia four months to transform an empty shop.

It is a family-run business, with Paul and Lavinia’s one-month-old son, David, being with them on the opening day.

As well as breads, pastries and sweet treats, the bakery will also sell tea, coffee and donuts.

It will be open seven days a week, from 7.30am-11am in the morning and from 2pm-6pm in the afternoon.

“It’s about time we had something decent and a good shop up here,” said local resident Lorraine Williams, waiting for a bus outside the bakery.

“There’s nowhere you can buy any nice fresh bread round here, so I’ll definitely be using it.”
