New bakery to open on Park Street
Bread is big business in Bristol.
Food writer Fiona Beckett has even called Bristol “bread city”: “One of the things that struck me when I moved to Bristol six years ago was how great its bread was. I’d never lived in a city where it was so easy to buy a good loaf.”
The theme is continuing in October with the opening of Pinkmans towards the top of Park Street, in a building that was most recently the very short-lived Flavour Sensation and before that Cafe Rouge.
is needed now More than ever
Pinkmans will be a fully licensed bakery-cum-cafe, serving breads, pizza, coffee and cakes for takeout, as well as eating in, throughout the daytime and evening.
The two men behind the new venture are Steven Whibley (Le Pain Quotidien, Gail’s Bakery) and Troels Bendix (Breads Ecetera, The Hungry Guest).
Whibley said: “We are delighted to be opening Pinkmans here in beautiful Bristol and are very much looking forward to becoming part of the great quality food and baking scene that is burgeoning here and in the South West.
“Great bread is not about nostalgia and yesterday, it is a food for now and for the future – and we intend to have a lot of fun making, baking and serving it here.”
