New cafe to open on Cheltenham Road

By Martin Booth  Friday Jun 9, 2023

Poquito on Cheltenham Road is due to open by the end of June serving coffee, pastries and bagels.

The sign has now been hand-painted on the front of the building by Bristol-based artist and signwriter Hannah Worsley of Paper Walls.

Poquito will be in the space that was most recently Emmeline, who are now based a few hundred yards down the road in Hamilton House.

Before it was Emmeline, 116 Cheltenham Road next to the Pipe & Slippers was Shop Dutty, which in 2015 was forced to change its name following the loss of a two-year legal battle and is now That Thing.

The Stokes Croft community rallied to support Emmeline in 2018 when a car crashed into the shopfront causing major structural damage and leaving the cafe unable to reopen until the following year.
