New cafe opens at Ashton Gate Stadium

By Martin Booth  Thursday May 27, 2021

Kofi Lounge is a giant leap forward from the days when culinary choices at sports stadiums were either a pie or a pasty.

The new cafe on the ground floor of the South Stand at Ashton Gate Stadium features coffee from Clifton Coffee, with frames on the walls explaining the provenance of the beans.

With reclaimed wood making up the tables, chairs, benches and bar, and piles of pastries on display on the counter, Kofi Lounge would not look out of place on North Street or Gloucester Road.

The official Bristol Bears, Bristol Flyers and Bristol City shop is just next door, meaning that you can get a souvenir keychain with your coffee if so desired.

Vaccinations are also in full swing just a few doors down, with a few people due to get their jab having to be redirected from the new cafe on a recent Thursday morning.

On the stereo when I visited was an eclectic playlist of songs ranging from Robbie Williams to Athlete – a suitable choice of band for a cafe at a sports stadium.
