New cafe opens with unique feature
It’s difficult to open a new cafe in Bristol these days and be doing something completely different.
Hatter House Cafe on Clare Street have managed this tricky task, however, thanks to three hand pulls on their counter that serve nitro cold brew in a choice of dark, medium or light roast.

Using a similar system to pubs serving beer from a keg, after the liquid is infused with nitrogen, the drink pours like a pint of Guinness with a creamy head.
is needed now More than ever
Starbucks and Costa have introduced nitro cold brew in a small number of UK stores, but Hatter House is believed to be the first cafe in Bristol serving coffee this way.
It’s a much faster process then in the likes of nearby Small Street Espresso and Full Court Press, whose cold brew takes hours to make as water drips slowly through coffee grounds to produce a concentrated coffee essence, which is then diluted to taste and served chilled.

Elsewhere here, there are sandwiches, rolls, pastries, cookies and cakes among the food options; half a dozen different teas; and coffee over ice and frappes alongside the cold brew in preparation for the arrival of the summer.
The hot coffees are served in branded Hatter House Cafe cups and saucers, whose teal colour matches the chairs and banquettes, above one of which in a corner is a mural by Bristol street artist Nick Walker.
