New cafe at Paintworks opening soon
Before they arrived in Bristol, the two Airstream caravans that are now a well-known symbol of the Paintworks were languishing in a field in South Carolina.
Since the departure of the diner that used to operate within the pair, they have been languishing once again.
But they are due to be brought back to life in April with the arrival of Convoy Espresso, a new cafe being opened by three friends: a teacher, a wedding photographer and a web developer.
is needed now More than ever
With beans roasted by Origin in Cornwall, coffee is set to be taken very seriously here alongside food options that have yet to be confirmed but are set to include the likes of toasted sandwiches, homemade soup and sausage rolls.

“I’ve wanted to have a coffee shop for years,” wedding photographer Colin Ross tells Bristol24/7.
“But it never ended up happening, so I’m so excited about this, especially here in the Paintworks which is a really creative place with lots happening and which is constantly evolving.”
Colin and web developer Josh Stott both already work in the Paintworks, with their friend and business partner Zac Verry a teacher at QEH.
The trio have been looking for a suitable site for a cafe for a while and jumped at the chance to take on the former Tube Diner when its previous owners left.
“It’s so unique and it encapsulates so much of what Bristol is about,” says Josh.
“Bristol has already got loads of great coffee shops. But there’s always room for more. Especially here.”
