New cafe to open on the Triangle

A new coffee shop will open on the Triangle on Monday.

illy is opening its first Bristol cafe on 73 Queen’s Road and will offer nine Arabica varieties of illy blended coffee.

The new cafe will also offer sweet and savoury treats, including breakfast pastries, light lunches and Mediterranean dishes. A small retail area will also sell illy products.

The site, which most recently housed a hairdressers, will combine “a genuine Italian cafe experience with illy’s chic design ideals and innovative high-end technology”, is the tenth illy Caffe in the UK.

The Bristol cafe, the first of the chain’s cafes outside of London, will include a reproduction of the 1934 illustration designed for illy by Bauhaus artist Xanti Schawinsky and a chandelier made of around 100 cups.

“Our world-renowned illy Caffes have proved really popular with Londoners so we’re excited to bring our passion and expertise to Bristol’s burgeoning food and drink scene,” says Sam Chandler, who works for illy UK.

“There’s simply no better place than an illy Caffè to share a coffee and, with the opening, we hope we can bring some happiness to the area in these uncertain times.”
