New independent cafe opens in Temple Meads
Good & Proper is flying the flag for independent businesses inside Bristol Temple Meads, with the new cafe now open at the end of the subway close to the stairs up to platforms 13 and 15.
Serving coffee made with beans roasted by Extract in St Werburgh’s, pastries from Bertinet Bakery in Bath, sausage rolls from Little Jack Horner’s of Frome and juice from Wiltshire’s The Juice Collective, Good & Proper aims to serve only locally sourced produce from along the train line.
The cafe is owned by Clare Morris who after qualifying as a chef spent some time travelling around south east Asia, where street food vendors hopped on and off the train with what Clare describes as “fresh, home-cooked, delicious food”.
is needed now More than ever
“Exactly my passion. It was some of the best I have ever tasted, and from then on all I wanted to do was make and serve simple, seriously tasty food.”
Writing on her website, Clare says: “So, whilst I won’t be jumping on and off the train to serve you, you can certainly swing by before your journey to create the best train picnic you could ever have to enjoy on your way.”
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “We are pleased that passengers at Bristol Temple Meads will now be able to visit Good & Proper, an independent business that we are delighted to be supporting.
For many people, the station is their gateway to the city, so it is really important to be able to work in partnership with local companies in this way, and support local communities and businesses.
“We hope that passengers will enjoy visiting the new cafe, and look forward to working closely with Good & Proper, and with other local businesses in the future.”
