By Mia Vines Booth  Tuesday May 2, 2023

A new Sichuan takeaway and restaurant is opening in Clifton.

Known for its bold flavours and signature use of Sichuan pepper, Sichuan food is one of the most popular cuisines in China, originating from the Sichuan province.

Popular dishes include Kung Pao chicken and Yuxiang shredded pork.

Guoguoyan will open on Queen’s Road opposite the Wills Memorial Building in the former Woky Ko which was also previously a Caffe Nero.

Larkin Cen reopened this Woky Ko in September 2022 under a new concept, but it unexpectedly closed within two months and the site has remained empty until now.

Due to open on Wednesday, Guoguoyan will serve Sichuan cuisine, including noodles and wonton, and will be available for takeaway on Deliveroo.

A selection of Sichuan drinks and desserts are also available, including grass jelly sago coconut milk soup and tofu puddings.
