Old Bookshop starts ‘reopening fund’

By Martin Booth  Thursday Aug 20, 2020

A new outdoor seating area could help a popular North street bar survive when it reopens for the fist time since lockdown.

Owners of the Old Bookshop are now raising money for “a comfortable and eye pleasing seating area” at the front of their building.

On the crowdfunding page, they said: “Covid-19 has had a severe impact on our business. We took the decision not to reopen in July due to uncertainties in how we could operate a small indoor venue with social distancing guidelines in place. Making the Bookshop a seating-only venue would drastically reduce our capacity.

“Thankfully, Bristol City Council has given us, and many other venues, the opportunity to have outside seating areas where there was once none, meaning that we have the chance to keep our capacity levels up while maintaining social distancing guidelines.”

By Thursday morning, the crowdfunder had already raised almost £1000. A donation of £20 will receive Happy Hour drinks all night for a table of two on a night of your choice, and a donation of £50 will receive half price drinks all night for a table of two on a night of your choice.
