Opulent bar to return eight years after closing

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Dec 20, 2023

One of the most opulent bars in Bristol in recent years is set to make an unexpected return.

Housed over two Georgian buildings and featuring several interconnecting floors and rooms, Goldbrick House was opened in 2006 but closed a decade later, with The Florist most recently using the site until April.

During its most successful period, Goldbrick House was serving more than 2,000 customers a week in its ground floor cafe, cocktail and champagne bar, restaurant on two floors, roof terrace, and meeting rooms.

But the multi-level building is a notoriously difficult space to run operationally, requiring a large number of staff to cover the numerous areas.

Bristol24/7 understands that the new Goldbrick House has nothing to do with the old Goldbrick House, which closed in May 2016, other than resurrecting the name.

A new Instagram account using the Goldbrick House name first appeared on December 1, with subsequent posts promising to be “Bristol’s new favourite luxury bar and social experience”.

A sign in a window says that the new venue will be “a multi-roomed experience coming soon”.

The new Goldbrick House is due to open in February.
