Oxford pub company to open their first pub in Bristol

By Martin Booth  Monday Mar 6, 2023

A group of friends from Oxford are opening their first pub in Bristol.

The Dodo Pub Co. have purchased the former Cross Hands in Fishponds and will be turning it into the All Inn.

The newly renamed pub on Staple Hill Road is set to open in May promising a “traditional, yet quirky, welcoming style” with a food menu of dirty burgers, Neapolitan pizzas and a variety of sides.

Dodo co-founder Leo Johnson said: “We’ve been wanting to find the right place for a Dodo pub in Bristol for several years now.

“Two of us lived there for a while and we all love its vibrancy and the feeling of inclusion that seems to permeate the city.

“It’s got a great mix of pubs, bars and restaurants, and we firmly believe that our neighbourhood vibe will fit right in.”

Johnson and Chris Manners opened their first pub, the Rusty Bicycle, in east Oxford in 2009 after returning to their hometown from university, followed two years later by the Rickety Press.

The Bottle of Sauce in Cheltenham was Dodo’s first pub outside Oxford, which was later joined by the Up in Arms in Oxford, the Last Crumb in Caversham and the Part & Parcel in Witney.
