Peter Sanchez-Iglesias’ new London restaurant praised by Times critic
Despite referring to one of the UK’s best chefs as “some guy with two Michelin stars in Bristol apparently”, The Times restaurant critic Giles Coren gave an excellent review of that guy’s new restaurant in London.
Peter Sanchez-Iglesias made his name in his native Bristol with Casamia (celebrating its 20th anniversary this month) and Paco Tapas, next door restaurants in Redcliffe that both hold Michelin stars.

Sanchez-Iglesias now also heads up Decimo at The Standard hotel in central London, promising to serve “a fresh interpretation of live fire Spanish and Mexican dishes”, inspired by the chef’s Spanish roots and a recent research trip to Mexico.

Coren called the dining room at Decimo “gorgeousness a go-go” and its food “breathtaking”, giving the restaurant an overall score of nine out of ten.
“One of the greatest things about being so out of the loop as a restaurant critic – I know nothing about what is going on out there and haven’t for years – is that life is full of wonderful surprises,” Coren wrote.
“Like last night at Decimo, a Spanish/Mexican joint in a hotel in Kings Cross, from which I expected nothing at all but got, basically, everything you could possibly wan from a restaurant bar free food and a shag in the loos.”
