Pickle set to expand cafe within Underfall Yard
It’s useful having a shipbuilder located next door to your own business when looking for somebody to construct a new bar.
James Fitzgerald (known to everybody as Fizz), owner of Pickle in Underfall Yard, has not had to look far for help with the cafe’s expansion in time for the Easter holidays; with RB Boatbuilding set to put their nautical skills to good use on dry land.
But while Pickle in Underfall Yard is set to expand, the original Pickle wagon, which opened in 2014, is set to open for the last time on Friday.

Pickle and Ickle have both founded themselves in the middle of the Temple Gate roadworks, which will not finish until autumn 2019
Originally located at the Temple Meads end of Portwall Lane, Pickle has found itself marooned within the Temple Gate roadworks since their start in June 2017.
Moved from their original location, the business has seen a huge drop in footfall, causing Fizz to make the difficult decision to mothball the former kebab van and concentrate on its smaller cousin, Ickle, as well as the expansion of the bricks and mortar Pickle in Underfall Yard.

“It’s very sad for a number of reasons,” Fizz said. “Number one, letting the staff go. They are a great team and I’m so proud of the fact that we’ve been able to keep staff members for so long.
“And number two, I never realised how good Pickle could be. I left my job in TV to open it. I’ve put a lot of effort into it, and we couldn’t have Underfall Yard if it wasn’t for that wagon.
“We are still a work on progress here at Underfall Yard. It’s going to be amazing. We are no longer Bristol’s best kept secret and I’m so excited for the future.”
