Pickle’s Ickle sister and other new openings

By Martin Booth  Friday Nov 14, 2014

Pickle is expanding. But the street food van at the end of Portwall Lane on Redcliffe Way is not going to be opening permanent premises quite yet. Instead, they will be opening a second van – Ickle – a few hundred yards away outside 100 Temple Street where The Food Warren currently reside.

One street food outlet that will have a permanent roof over its head soon is Chomp, due to be open on St Nicholas Street by the end of the month.

US burger chain Five Guys will be opening in Cabot Circus on Monday, November 17, with even more burgers coming to Bristol soon in the shape of Meat Liquor opening in the new year on Stokes Croft – look out for a commissioned mural from Inkie outside.

Ice cream is becoming big business in Bristol too, with the recently opened Flour & Ash on Cheltenham Road serving only ice cream and gelatos for dessert.

On Baldwin Street, Sundae’s Gelato looks like it’s ready to open very soon, while up on Park Street Kaspa’s Desserts in what used to be The Kooples clothes shop will be serving gelatos, waffles, crepes, milkshakes, smoothies, sundaes and more.

A few doors away in the former Cafe Rouge, The Flavour Sensation promises “the food you love without compromise” – with their website holding page mentioning food from tomato soup to Eton mess. Also on Park Street, Mayaa in the short-lived Meluha will offer “divine Indian cuisine”.

Before the end of this month we should also see the welcome return of Hermanos cocktail bar, now simply known as Manos, opening next door to Mbargo on the Triangle around the corner from their original home on Queen’s Road.
