Pigsty close Gloucester Road restaurant

By Martin Booth  Monday Jul 15, 2019

Its meaty treats will live on, but only in its original premises following the news that a Gloucester Road restaurant is closing after just more than a year.

The owners of Pigsty, which opened on Gloucester Road in May 2018, have made the difficult decision to close their second restaurant in order to refocus their business.

In a statement, the owners said: “We’re sad to say that we will be closing Pigsty Gloucester Road on Monday 15th July.

“We’ve had a brilliant year here, but with so much growth in other parts of our business (our Jolly Hog products and concessions) it feels right to put our focus and energy in to those.

“Pigsty Cargo will be staying open and thriving down at Wapping Wharf and we hope to see you there soon. Thank you for all your Jolly Good support.”

Pigsty opened their Gloucester Road restaurant in May 2018

Pigsty’s original restaurant within three converted shipping containers at Cargo 1 in Wapping Wharf was the team’s first bricks and mortar premises, with the restaurant opened by the same team behind The Jolly Hog sausages and bacon.

The news of the Gloucester Road restaurant’s closure – more than four times the size of their original Cargo home – was met with sadness on social media.

Lucy Jones said: “Very sad but wishing you all the best and know wherever you focus your efforts next it will be a huge success.”

And Hannah Emily wrote: “Really sad news – we absolutely love Pigsty, needless to say we will be visiting Wapping Wharf for some delicious food.”
