Pizza Express to close two Bristol restaurants
Two restaurants in Bristol are among more than 70 Pizza Express restaurants across the UK which are to close with the potential loss of 1,100 jobs.
Despite most of its restaurants being profitable over the past three years, earnings have been declining.
Pizza Express also confirmed it had hired advisers to lead a sale process for the business which is currently majority owned by Chinese firm Hony Capital.

Pizza Express restaurants on Millennium Promenade in the Harbourside, and in Cabot Circus and Cribbs Causeway will remain open.
Each of these has been taking part in the Eat Out to Help Out scheme in August to try to help revive the flagging UK hospitality sector.
The restaurants set to close are both in BS8: on Regent Street in Clifton Village and on Berkeley Square off the Clifton Triangle.
Zoe Bowley, Pizza Express’s managing director for the UK and Ireland, said: “Unfortunately, the impact of the global pandemic has meant that we have had to make some incredibly tough decisions to safeguard Pizza Express for the long term.”
She added that the process “will protect the jobs of over 9,000 of our colleagues”.
