Popular deli to close
The owners of a deli in Redfield have announced they will be shutting up shop due to “ever-increasing costs” and “a massive drop in trade”.
Eve Anning opened Poco Deli on the corner of Church Road and Richmond Road in October 2020, inspired by a love of Italian food and culture.
The delicatessen sells cheese, cold meats, olives, an assortment of fresh fruit and veg as well as books, pottery, plants and more, many from local suppliers.
is needed now More than ever
But the much-loved shop has become the latest addition to a long list of hospitality industry casualties in Bristol, with its last day of trading on December 23.
Anning said it was the decision was made “with a heavy heart and much sadness”.

Posting on social media, the team said: “Unfortunately, like many other small independent businesses, we’ve been battling with the ever-increasing costs; this combined with a massive drop in trade, we simply have no other option but to close.
“It feels like we’ve tried everything to avoid closure, sadly we’ve ran out of both ideas and money.
“The last 8 months have been an up hill struggle but we won’t let this taint all the good memories we’ve created here, all the friends we’ve made and many laughs we’ve shared! I’d like to thank customers and staff, past and present for their continued support over the last three years – it really has been a blast!”
Poco Deli will be hosting a festive day on Sunday with toasties and gravy pots, pork belly, apple baps and loaded roast potatoes, as well as mulled cider, Baileys hot chocolate and music.
