Popular vegan roast dinner pop-up closing its doors
The “heartbroken” owner of a popular plant-based pop-up which is closing at the end of January has urged people to support independent business.
LD’s Kitchen, based at the Golden Lion, Horfield, is well-known for serving vegan roast dinners featuring tofu pork belly, vegan cracklin’ and Guinness gravy.
The vegan kitchen first came to Bristol in 2021, during the covid pandemic, when founder Lianna Davies’s touring schedule came to a halt.

Davis said: “I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported LD’s over this past year, as much as it’s been amazing there is a bitter sweetness that I shut my doors in Bristol where it all started – and a reminder to everyone please please support your local independent businesses where you can.
“I’m so saddened and heartbroken to see in Bristol the daily closing of the independents I love, tougher times are awaiting and I hope we will one day see the end of this and businesses like mine will be able to thrive in Bristol again.”
She added: “It’s not that I don’t believe in what I do or my product, I hope in the future that I will be able to bring it back properly in Bristol and I hope once I can manage it I will be able to do special one offs or evenings. Bristol is my home and it’s’ devastating not being able to do it here.”

Ld’s Kitchen’s roast dinners were renowned in Bristol
Originally at Chatterton’s Cafe in Redcliffe Way in 2021, three months later it moved to the Kingsdown Vaults later serving at the Golden Lion on Gloucester Road where it has stayed ever since.
It first served a range of American BBQ-inspired soul food, including southern fried mocken, pork style seitan ribs and mac’n’cheeze, later transitioning to vegan Sunday roasts.
LD’s Kitchen has another pop-up at the Black Heart in Camden, London, but its Bristol base closes on January 29.
