Rooftop terrace could open above car park
A new bar and restaurant could have one of the largest rooftop terraces in Bristol.
Owners of the building overlooking Millennium Square want Harbour View to be “a new rooftop food and drink venue on the harbourside”.
It would be built within what is currently part of a casino which would downsize while also remaining in the building facing Canons Way and Explore Lane

Rainbow Casino is only one of the businesses currently in the building, which has the Slug & Lettuce, Lane 7 and Brewdog on its ground floor, the soon-to-open Par 59 on the first floor, as well as Pure Gym and Locked in a Room on the Millennium Square side, and the Britannia Car Park on the middle floors.
A little-known feature of the car park is its tiny ladders and walkways, part of an art installation called Secret Industry by John Pym which was commissioned as part of a public art scheme for the Harbourside development.

Canada Life Asset Management’s plans for Building 11 involve inserting a mezzanine floor giving access to what could become the new restaurant and bar.
The existing outdoor area on top of the building would be redesigned “to create an accessible roof terrace and garden”.
A spokesperson for Canada Life Asset Management said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to convert the redundant area on top of Building 11 into a stylish new rooftop food and drink venue with spectacular views over Bristol’s harbourside.
“We look forward to sharing our plans and hearing the views of those who live and work in the area.”

An online consultation opens on Friday at sites.google.com/view/harbourview with an event at the Millennium Bar on the ground floor of Rainbow Casino taking place on January 17 from 4pm to 7pm.
The scheme is expected to be finalised the scheme and a planning submitted later in 2023.
