‘Sassy’ late night cocktail bar opening soon

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Aug 17, 2022

Tonight Josephine will be “a sassy late night cocktail bar where the drinks are strong and the vibes are immaculate”.

Named after Empress Josephine Bonaparte and said to take its inspiration from her travels across America, the new bar promises to be “extravagant, full of Instragrammable interiors, and ready to welcome the fearless and fabulous women of Bristol”.

The 320-capacity bar – with sister venues in London, Cardiff and Birmingham – is set to open on Baldwin Street in September in what was previously Jongleurs, The Stone House and Eton, but has been empty for several years.

Tonight Josephine is owned by the same people as The Cocktail Club on Corn Street and the Clifton Triangle, and Blame Gloria on Small Street.

Founder Tom Kidd said: “With the success of our London and Cardiff bars, we are thrilled to be bringing Tonight Josephine to Bristol.

“Bristol is such a vibrant city with an array of powerful females. We feel Tonight Josephine is the perfect place to celebrate them.”
