Second Bristol restaurant forced to close due to positive Covid tests
A second Bristol restaurant has been forced to temporarily close after two members of its kitchen staff test positive for coronavirus.
Tare will stay closed for a fortnight, with a statement saying “thankfully it would appear that we stopped the virus spreading early through good safety practise and quick response”.
The 20-cover restaurant within three converted shipping containers becomes the second restaurant in Wapping Wharf to have a staff member test positive for Covid-19, with Seven Lucky Gods closing for two weeks only a few days after reopening in July.

A statement published on Tare’s social media channels on Wednesday morning said that one member of kitchen staff returned a positive test for Covid-19 on Sunday evening and a second chef tested positive on Wednesday, with both now self-isolating.
A later statement on Wednesday evening said that all other staff test results were negative, with the restaurant remaining closed for two weeks.
“Our chefs do not have close contact with our customers and with our waiting staff all testing negative we would hope that our customers have not been put in any danger.”
Public Health England have informed Tare that it is not necessary to trace anybody who has recently dined in the restaurant.

Tare, which opened in 2017, previously had a Michelin Bib Gourmand but did not retain it in the 2020 edition of the guide.
In Bristol24/7’s food and drink guide, EatDrink24/7, Casamia’s Peter Sanchez-Iglesias said that Tare is a restaurant “that quietly does what it does and will only keep getting more and more popular”.
