Society Cafe opens in Bristol
Camera phones were being taken out of pockets and bags as soon as coffees had been ordered at Society Cafe on its opening morning.
With whitewashed walls, sturdy oak beams, black and white photos, and the occasional splash of green from pot plants, expect this place to be all over your Instagram feeds before too long.

The Scandinavian-style design here is by Ashley Down’s Shape Studio, who have transformed what was originally a rope factory into Bristol’s newest speciality coffee shop.
Society have serious pedigree when it comes to coffee. Their two cafes in Bath serve some of the best coffee in the city, second only to Colonna & Smalls, and they have recently opened a third cafe in Oxford.
For their first foray into Bristol – which has been in the planning for more than three years – they have chosen a location between Queen Square and Pero’s Bridge with a constant footfall throughout the day.
Coffee is the principle offer here – with Origin from Cornwall providing the house blends, Colonna the Aeropress option, a changing variety of guest roasters from around the world promised, and cold brew for those hot summer days.
There are also loose leaf teas, five different varieties of hot chocolate, smoothies, and pastries and cakes from Bertinet Bakery of Bath.
A multitude of plug sockets inside Society means that camera phones and laptops will remain fully charged, giving their owners time to indulge in some mighty fine coffee.
